Before the Class Starts ✔

Please make sure you have:

☐ Two devices ready
(computer, tablet, or phone)


☐ Joined the English Zoom
(this is where you will see Alison)


☐ Joined your Language Zoom
(this is where you will hear the translation)

☐ Headphones ready for the Language Zoom device
(this prevents translation audio from echoing into the English Zoom)

☐ Both Zooms open at the same time


How It Works

Device 1
💻 English Zoom
→ Watch Alison
→ Raise your hand here if you have a question


Device 2
📱 Language Zoom
→ Hear the translator
→ Headphones are recommended


Devices

You will need two devices (computer, tablet, or phone).

• Device 1: English Zoom
• Device 2: Your Language Zoom


Please join both Zoom rooms at the same time so you can see Alison in the English Zoom and hear the translator in your language Zoom.

Audio Setup

For the best experience, please use headphones for the device where you are listening to the translation.
This prevents the translator’s voice from being heard in the background of the English Zoom.

Asking Questions

If you would like to ask a question during the class:

1. Raise your hand in the English Zoom.
2. Your translator will assist with translating your question.
3. Translation will be consecutive (not simultaneous).

This means you will speak first, and then the translator will translate what you said.
Please speak slowly and pause between short sentences so the translator can translate clearly.

Troubleshooting

I can hear an echo or feedback
This usually happens when the translation audio is picked up by the English Zoom.
Please use headphones for the device where you are listening to the translation.


I can see Alison but cannot hear the translator
Make sure you are connected to both Zoom rooms and that the language Zoom is not muted.


I can hear translation but cannot see Alison
Check that you are connected to the English Zoom on your first device.


I only joined one Zoom
Please join both Zoom rooms so you can see Alison and hear the translation at the same time.
